State-wise Number of Public Active Non-Government Companies Limited by Shares as on 31.03.2014

The number of Public Active Non-Government Companies in India was 61381 accounting for 6.49% of the total 945276 Active Non-Government Companies in India. The top ten states/UTs in terms of the number of Public Active Non-Government Companies were: Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.

The number of Public Active Non-Government Companies in Delhi was 11445. Thus, Delhi accounted for 18.65% of the total Public Active Non-Government Companies in India. The number of Public Active Non-Government Companies in Maharashtra was 11217. Thus, Maharashtra accounted for 18.27% of the total Public Active Non-Government Companies in India. The number of Public Active Non-Government Companies in West Bengal was 10424. Thus, West Bengal accounted for 16.98% of the total Public Active Non-Government Companies in India. Thus, Delhi, Maharashtra and West Bengal were the states/UTs which had more than 10,000 Public Active Non-Government companies each.

The number of Public Active Non-Government Companies in Tamil Nadu was 4775. Thus, Tamil Nadu accounted for 7.78% of the total Public Active Non-Government Companies in India. The number of Public Active Non-Government Companies in Andhra Pradesh was 3843. Thus, Andhra Pradesh accounted for 6.26% of the total Public Active Non-Government Companies in India.
