State-wise Number of Private Active Non-Government Companies Limited by Shares as on 31.03.2014

The number of Private Active Non-Government Companies in India was 883895 accounting for 93.51% of the total 945276 Private Active Non-Government Companies in India. The top ten states/UTs in terms of the number of Private Active Non-Government Companies were: Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Kerala.

The number of Private Active Non-Government Companies in Delhi was 175960. Thus, Delhi accounted for 19.91% of the total Private Active Non-Government Companies in India. The number of Private Active Non-Government Companies in Maharashtra was 175939. Thus, Maharashtra accounted for 19.9% of the total Private Active Non-Government Companies in India. The number of Private Active Non-Government Companies in West Bengal was 123302. Thus, West Bengal accounted for 13.95% of the total Private Active Non-Government Companies in India. Thus, Delhi, Maharashtra and West Bengal were the states/UTs which had more than 1 Lac total Private Active Non-Government companies each.

The number of Private Active Non-Government Companies in Tamil Nadu was 60127. Thus, Tamil Nadu accounted for 6.8% of the total Private Active Non-Government Companies in India. The number of Private Active Non-Government Companies in Andhra Pradesh was 55502. Thus, Andhra Pradesh accounted for 6.28% of the total Private Active Non-Government Companies in India.
