State/ UT-wise Shortfall of Surgeons at Community Health Centres as on 31st March 2017

As on 31st March 2017, there were 758 Surgeons in position at Community Health Centres (CHCs) out of the total 5624 required Surgeons in India. So there was a Shortfall of 86.52% (4866) Surgeons at CHCs in India as on 31st March 2017.

As on 31st March 2017, there was a Shortfall of 100% Surgeons at CHCs in States/UTs namely; Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal, A & N Island, Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep and Puducherry with requirement of 63, 17, 27, 9, 2, 21, 349, 4, 2, 2, 2, 3 and 4 Surgeons respectively.

There were States/UTs namely; Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Goa, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh where percentage of Shortfall of Surgeons at CHCs was noticed below the Shortfall of Surgeons (86.52%) in India as on 31-03-2017. As on 31st March 2017, there was a requirement of 206, 84, 151, 4, 579, 193, 370, 822 and 309 Surgeons, and shortfall of 78 (37.86%), 41 (48.81%), 101 (66.89%), 3 (75%), 452 (78.07%), 155 (80.31%), 302 (81.62%), 710 (86.37%) and 267 (86.41%) Surgeons at CHCs in Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Goa, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh respectively.
