State/UT-wise SC Beneficiaries under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) during 2020-21

The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) provides at least one hundred days of guaranteed wage employment in every financial year to every rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work. It is a demand driven wage employment programme. The Government is actively engaged with the State Government in establishing systems that ensure the provision of work as per demand on the field.

Total 208.46 lakh SC beneficiaries were benefitted under MGNREGS during 2020-21. The top 10 states in terms of SC beneficiaries were Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha, and Punjab.

The highest SC beneficiaries were benefitted under MGNREGS during 2020-21 in Uttar Pradesh.
