State/UT-wise Pharmacists at PHCs in Rural Areas As on 31st March 2019

As on 31st March 2019, there were 18,975 (95.11%) pharmacists in position at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in rural areas of India; out of sanctioned strength of 19,951 pharmacists. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to pharmacists in position at PHCs in rural areas as on 31-03-2019 were Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The number of pharmacists at PHCs in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh was 1,961 as on 31st March 2019, which accounted 10.33% of the total pharmacists at PHCs in rural areas of India. There were 1,714 pharmacists at PHCs in rural areas of Karnataka as on 31-03-2019. It accounted 9.03% of the total pharmacists at PHCs in rural areas of India as on the same period. The number of pharmacists at PHCs in rural areas of Assam was 1,540 as on 31st March 2019, which accounted 8.12% of the total pharmacists at PHCs in rural areas of India.

There were 1,507 and 1,360 pharmacists at PHCs in rural areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat respectively as on 31st March 2019. Maharashtra accounted for 7.94% and Gujarat accounted for 7.17% of the total pharmacists at PHCs in rural areas of India as on 31-03-2019.
