State/UT-wise Permanent Account N​umbers (PANs) issued in India up to FY 2017-18

The total number of Permanent Account N​umbers (PANs) issued in India was 379,909,435 up to FY 2017-18. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to number of PANs issued in India up to 2017-18 were Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The number of PANs issued in Maharashtra was 55,047,674 up to 2017-18, which accounted 14.49% of the total PANs issued in India. There were 47,738,454 PANs issued in Uttar Pradesh up to 2017-18. It accounted 12.57% of the total PANs issued in India as on the same period. The number of PANs issued in West Bengal was 31,400,426 up to 2017-18, which accounted 8.27% of the total PANs issued in India.

There were 25,491,651 and 22,544,465 PANs issued in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka respectively up to 2017-18. Tamil Nadu accounted for 6.71% and Karnataka accounted for 5.93% of the total PANs issued in India up to 2017-18.
