State/UT-wise Percentage of Rural Households with Access to Toilets as on 20th December 2018

The Government of India had launched the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) [SBM(G)] with effect from 2nd October 2014 with the aim to achieve universal sanitation coverage by 2nd October 2019 by providing access to toilet facilities to all rural households in the country. The focus of the scheme is on behavior change and usage of toilets.

There were 153,050,794 rural households with access to toilets in India as on 20th December 2018, in percentage term it was 97.64%. Five States/UTs namely Odisha, Goa, Bihar, Telangana and Tripura has been seen below and 30 States/UTs seen above the national percentage of rural households with access to toilets as on 20.12.2018.

The number of rural households with access to toilets in Odisha, Goa, Bihar, Telangana and Tripura was 6,041,798, 139,713, 14,437,610, 4,013,449 and 623,127 respectively as on 20th Dec 2018. In percentage term the rural households with access to toilets was 75.71%, 76.22%, 92.13%, 94.55% and 96.8% in Odisha, Goa, Bihar, Telangana and Tripura respectively as on 20/12/2018.

Out of 30 States/UTs seen above the national percentage of rural households with access to toilets as on 20.12.2018; West Bengal observed with 98.65%, Assam found with 99.21% and others seen with 100% of rural households with access to toilets.
