State/UT-wise Nursing Staffs in Position at PHCs & CHCs As on 31st March, 2018

In India there were 84567 nursing staffs in position at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) & Community Health Centres (CHCs) as on 31st March, 2018. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to number of nursing staffs in position at PHCs & CHCs as on 31st March, 2018 were Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The number of nursing staffs in position at PHCs & CHCs of Uttar Pradesh was 20546 as on 31.03.2018, which accounted 24.3% of the total nursing staffs in position at PHCs & CHCs in India. There were 9887 nursing staffs in position at PHCs & CHCs of Rajasthan as on 31-03-2018. It accounted 11.69% of the total nursing staffs in position at PHCs & CHCs in India as on 31st March, 2018. The number of nursing staffs in position at PHCs & CHCs of West Bengal was 6464 as on 31.03.2018, which accounted 7.64% of the total nursing staffs in position at PHCs & CHCs in India.

There were 6360 and 3969 nursing staffs in position at PHCs & CHCs of Tamil Nadu and Kerala respectively as on 31st March, 2018. Tamil Nadu accounted for 7.52% and Kerala accounted for 4.69% of the total nursing staffs in position at PHCs & CHCs in India as on 31-03-2018.

Note: In the State of Assam Sanctioned data for year 2013 used; In the State of Bihar Sanctioned data for year 2011 used; In the State of Meghalaya Sanctioned data for year 2015 used; In the State of Mizoram Total 570 Nursing Staff sanctioned; Data of ‘Required’ is One per Primary Health Centre and seven per Community Health Centre as per IPHS norms; All India figures for Vacancy and Shortfall are the totals of State-wise Vacancy and Shortfall ignoring surplus in some States/UTs; *: Surplus; NA: Not Available.
