There were 1,087,285, 844,558, 429,928 and 286,091 malaria incidences in India from 2016 to 2019 respectively. We have observed a declining trend in malaria incidences in India during the period under consideration. Annual decline of -22.32%, -49.09% and -33.46% has been seen in malaria incidences in India from 2017 to 2019 respectively. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to malaria incidences in India during 2019 were Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
The number of malaria incidences in Uttar Pradesh was 86,591 during 2019, up by 12 basis points against 86,486 during 2018. We have seen annual decline of -38.04% in malaria incidences in Chhattisgarh from 78,717 during 2018 to 48,774 during 2019. The number of malaria incidences in Odisha was 66,311 during 2018. It has tanked by -49.93% to 33,204 during 2019 above 2018. Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha accounted for 30.27%, 17.05% and 11.61% respectively of the total malaria incidences in India during 2019.
During 2019, there were 31,299 and 18,528 malaria incidences in Jharkhand and West Bengal respectively. Jharkhand accounted for 10.94% and West Bengal accounted for 6.48% of the total malaria incidences in India during 2019.
