The Ministry of Women and Child Development is administering a scheme namely Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) (now ‘Child Protection Services’) for providing financial assistance to State Governments/UT Administrations, on sharing pattern with the objective to create a safe and secure environment for overall development of children in need of care and protection. These include placement in Children Homes if there is no family to look after the said child, or sponsorship support if the child is living with family (financial support for education etc.) to ensure that their education can continue in an undisturbed manner. The top 5 States/UTs in terms of fund released under ICPS during 2017-18 (as on 15.12.2017) were West Bengal, Assam, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Mizoram.
Fund released for West Bengal under ICPS was Rs. 5073.56 lakh during 2017-18 (as on 15.12.2017), which accounted 15.97% of the total fund released to all the States/UTs during the same period. The amount of fund released for Assam under ICPS was Rs. 2932.68 lakh during 2017-18 (as on 15.12.2017). It accounted 9.23% of the total fund released to all the States/UTs under ICPS during the same time period. Fund released for Rajasthan under ICPS was Rs. 2286.6 lakh during 2017-18 (as on 15.12.2017), which accounted 7.2% of the total fund released to all the States/UTs during the same period.
During 2017-18 (as on 15.12.2017), the amount of fund released was Rs. 2013.12 lakh for Tamil Nadu and Rs. 1917.51 lakh for Mizoram under ICPS. Tamil Nadu and Mizoram accounted for 6.34% and 6.03% respectively of the total fund released to all the States/UTs under ICPS during 2017-18 (as on 15.12.2017).
