State/UT-wise Functioning of Primary Health Centres as on 31st March 2017

As on 31st March 2017, there were 25650 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) functioning in India. The top 5 States/UTs in terms of maximum number of PHCs functioning as on 31st March 2017 were Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Bihar and Maharashtra.

The number of functioning of PHCs in Uttar Pradesh was 3621 as on 31st March 2017. It accounted 14.12% of the total PHCs functioning in India as on 31-03-2017. The number of functioning of PHCs in Karnataka was 2359 as on 31st March 2017. It accounted 9.2% of the total PHCs functioning in India as on 31-03-2017. The number of functioning of PHCs in Rajasthan was 2079 as on 31st March 2017. It accounted 8.11% of the total PHCs functioning in India as on 31-03-2017.

There were 1899 PHCs functioning in Bihar as on 31st March 2017, which accounted 7.4% of the total PHCs functioning in India as on 31-03-2017. There were 1814 PHCs functioning in Maharashtra as on 31st March 2017, which accounted 7.07% of the total PHCs functioning in India as on 31-03-2017.

The above mentioned top 5 states accounted for 45.89% of the total Primary Health Centres (PHCs) functioning in India as a whole as on 31st March 2017.

Note: For Buildings required: All India figure of required number of building to be constructed = Total functioning – (Government Buildings + Under construction) (ignoring States/Uts having excess.); *: States having construction in excess of number of building required.
