State/UT-wise Existing Flood Forecasting Stations of Central Water Commission As on January 2018

There were 226 existing flood forecasting stations of Central Water Commission (CWC) in India as on January 2018; out of which 166 (73.45%) were level forecasting stations for villages and towns and 60 (26.55%) were inflow forecasting stations for reservoirs/dams/barrages. The top 10 States/UTs with respect to existing flood forecasting stations of CWC as on January 2018 were Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

The number of existing flood forecasting stations of CWC in Uttar Pradesh was 40 as on Jan-2018, which accounted 17.7% of the total existing flood forecasting stations of CWC in India. There were 34 existing flood forecasting stations of CWC in Bihar as on January 2018. It accounted 15.04% of the total existing flood forecasting stations of CWC in India as on the same period. The number of existing flood forecasting stations of CWC in Assam was 29 as on Jan-2018, which accounted 12.83% of the total existing flood forecasting stations of CWC in India.

As on January 2018, there were 14 existing flood forecasting stations of CWC in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal each. Andhra Pradesh accounted for 6.19% and West Bengal accounted for 6.19% of the total existing flood forecasting stations of CWC in India as on Jan-2018.

The number of existing flood forecasting stations of CWC in Odisha, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu was 13, 12, 10, 10 and 10 respectively as on January 2018.
