There were 2,698,761 elementary school teachers in position by state government in government management schools during 2018-19. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to elementary school teachers in position by state govt. in govt. management schools during 2018-19 were Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan.
The number of elementary school teachers in position was 288,666 by state govt. in govt. management schools in Maharashtra during 2018-19, which accounted 10.7% of the total elementary school teachers in position by state govt. in govt. management schools in India. There were 242,616 elementary school teachers in position by state govt. in govt. management schools in West Bengal during 2018-19. It accounted 8.99% of the total elementary school teachers in position by state govt. in govt. management schools in India during the same period. The number of elementary school teachers in position was 228,681 by state govt. in govt. management schools in Uttar Pradesh during 2018-19, which accounted 8.47% of the total elementary school teachers in position by state govt. in govt. management schools in India.
During 2018-19, there were 169,613 and 169,005 elementary school teachers in position by state govt. in govt. management schools in Karnataka and Rajasthan respectively. Karnataka accounted for 6.28% and Rajasthan accounted for 6.26% of the total elementary school teachers in position by state govt. in govt. management schools in India during 2018-19.
