In order to provide old age protection to unorganised sector workers, the Government of India has launched lagsfhip scheme namely Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Man Dhan Pension Yojana (PM-SYM). Under the scheme, beneficiaries are entitled to receive minimum monthly assured pension of Rs.3000/- after attaining the age of 60 years. The workers in the age group of 18-40 years whose monthly income is Rs.15000/- or less can join the PM-SYM scheme.
Total 39,83,801 beneficiaries were enrolled under PM-SYM as on 28.02.2021. The top 10 State/UT in terms of beneficiaries enrolled under PM-SYM were Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh.
