State/UT-wise Beneficiaries Covered under the Scheme of Integrated Programme for Older Persons during 2014-15 to 2017-18

The main objective of the Integrated Programme for Older Persons (IPOP) Scheme is to improve the quality of life of Older Persons by providing basic amenities like shelter, food, medical care and entertainment opportunities etc. Implementing agencies eligible for assistance under the Scheme are Panchayati Raj Institutions/Local Bodies, Non-Governmental/ Voluntary Organizations, Institutions or Organizations set up by Government as autonomous/subordinate bodies, Government Recognized Educational Institutions, Charitable Hospitals/Nursing Homes, and Recognized Youth Organizations such as Nehru Yuvak Kendra Sanghathan (NYKS) and in exceptional cases the State Governments/UT administrations.

There were 4675, 6825, 9900 and 5075 beneficiaries covered under the scheme of IPOP during 2014-15 to 2017-18 (till 15.12.2017) respectively in India. The top 5 States/UTs in terms of number of beneficiaries covered under the IPOP scheme during 2017-18 (till 15.12.2017) were Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and Maharashtra.

The number of beneficiaries covered under the IPOP scheme in Andhra Pradesh was 950 during 2017-18 (till 15.12.2017), whereas it was 2150 during 2016-17. It accounted 18.72% of the total beneficiaries covered under this scheme in India during 2017-18. There were 750 beneficiaries covered under the scheme of IPOP in Karnataka during 2017-18 (till 15.12.2017), which accounted 14.78% of the total beneficiaries covered under this scheme in India during 2017-18. The number of beneficiaries covered under the IPOP scheme in Karnataka was 875 during 2016-17. The number of beneficiaries covered under the IPOP scheme in Tamil Nadu was 675 during 2017-18 (till 15.12.2017), whereas it was 1950 during 2016-17. It accounted 13.3% of the total beneficiaries covered under this scheme in India during 2017-18.

The number of beneficiaries covered under the IPOP scheme in Odisha was 1075 and 650 during 2016-17 & 2017-18 (till 15.12.2017) respectively. The number of beneficiaries covered under the IPOP scheme in Maharashtra was 600 and 400 during 2016-17 & 2017-18 (till 15.12.2017) respectively. During 2017-18 (till 15.12.2017), Odisha and Maharashtra accounted for 12.81% and 7.88% respectively of the total number of beneficiaries covered under this scheme in India.
