Allocation of fund for maintenance of National Highways in India was Rs. 2599.25, 2698.4, 2846.68 and 2966.75 crore from 2014-15 to 2017-18 respectively. The top 5 States/UTs in terms of fund allocated for maintenance of National Highways during 2017-18 were Maharashtra, Karnataka, Mizoram, Assam and Bihar.
Fund Allocated to Maharashtra was Rs. 225.75 crore for maintenance of National Highways during 2017-18, down by -29% versus Rs. 319.23 crore during 2016-17. Maximum annual growth of 75% has been seen in 2015-16 in allocation of fund to Maharashtra for maintenance of National Highways during the period under consideration. We have observed annual decline of -38% in allocation of fund for maintenance of National Highways for Karnataka from Rs. 204.53 crore during 2016-17 to Rs. 126.78 crore during 2017-18. Maximum annual growth of 73% has been found in 2016-17 in allocation of fund to Karnataka for maintenance of National Highways during the period under consideration. There was allocation of Rs. 125.93 crore to Mizoram for maintenance of National Highways during 2017-18, up by 95% against Rs. 64.51 crore during 2016-17. Maximum annual growth of 96% has been observed in 2015-16 in allocation of fund to Mizoram for maintenance of National Highways during the period under consideration.
Allocation of fund was Rs. 122.63 crore and Rs. 121.68 crore to Assam and Bihar respectively for maintenance of National Highways during 2017-18. Annual growth of -10% has been seen for Assam and 16% seen for Bihar in allocation of fund for maintenance of National Highways during 2017-18 over 2016-17.
