State Level Consumer Price Index (CPI) – January 2015 to March 2015

Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures changes over time in general level of prices of goods and services that households acquire for the purpose of consumption. For construction of CPI numbers, two requisite components are weighing diagrams (consumption patterns) and price data collected at regular intervals.
The data refers to State wise Consumer Price Index with base year 2010 =100. There has been a decline in CPI in March 2015 as compared to January 2015 in all States and UTs.
The 3 States with decrease in CPI were Mizoram, Tamil Nadu and Bihar during the period.CPI for Mizoram has decreased from 122.1 in January 2015 to 121.1 in March 2015 showing a decrease of 1.0 point. CPI for Tamil Nadu has decreased from 121.2 in January 2015 to 120.8 in March 2015 showing a decrease of 0.4 point. CPI for Bihar has decreased from 122.7 in January 2015 to 122.5 in March 2015 showing a decrease of 0.2 point.
The 5 states with highest increase in CPI were Puducherry (6.4 points), Manipur (2.9 points), Nagaland (2.8 points), Chhattisgarh (1.8 points) and Delhi (1.6 points).
