Social Status of Suicide Victims during 2014

The number of total suicide victims in India in 2014 was 131666. Out of these, the number of males was 89129, while the number of females was 42521. Thus, the percentage of male suicide victims was 67.69%, while the percentage of female suicide victims was 32.29%.

The number of suicide victims in India having social status of Un-Married in 2014 was 27825. Out of these, the number of males was 17999, while the number of females was 9820. Thus, the percentage of male suicide victims was 64.69%, while the percentage of female suicide victims was 35.29%. The number of suicide victims in India having social status of Married in 2014 was 86808. Out of these, the number of males was 59744, while the number of females was 27064. Thus, the percentage of male suicide victims was 68.82%, while the percentage of female suicide victims was 31.18%. The number of suicide victims in India having social status of Widowed/Widower in 2014 was 2714. Out of these, the number of males was 1410, while the number of females was 1304. Thus, the percentage of male suicide victims was 51.95%, while the percentage of female suicide victims was 48.05%.

The number of suicide victims in India having social status of Divorcee in 2014 was 968. Out of these, the number of males was 551, while the number of females was 417. Thus, the percentage of male suicide victims was 56.92%, while the percentage of female suicide victims was 43.08%. The number of suicide victims in India having social status of Separated in 2014 was 916. Out of these, the number of males was 599, while the number of females was 316. Thus, the percentage of male suicide victims was 65.39%, while the percentage of female suicide victims was 34.5%. The number of suicide victims in India having social status of Others in 2014 was 7504. Out of these, the number of males was 5159, while the number of females was 2339. Thus, the percentage of male suicide victims was 68.75%, while the percentage of female suicide victims was 31.17%. The number of suicide victims in India with Status not known in 2014 was 4931. Out of these, the number of males was 3667, while the number of females was 1261. Thus, the percentage of male suicide victims was 74.37%, while the percentage of female suicide victims was 25.57%.
