Sector-wise Manpower Employed in Oil & Gas Central Public Sector Enterprises as on 31st March, 2018

The number of manpower employed was 107872 in Oil & Gas Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) as on 31st March, 2018. Out of these 107872 employments as on 31.03.2018; 31822 (29.5%) employment was in Exploration & Production sector, 25196 (23.36%) employment was in Refining sector, 29981 (27.79%) employment was in Marketing sector, 5869 (5.44%) employment was in Pipelines sector, 1956 (1.81%) employment was in Research & Development sector and 13048 (12.1%) employment was in Others sector.

The top 3 CPSEs in terms of manpower employed as on 31st March, 2018 were IOCL with 33157 (30.74%), ONGC with 32265 (29.91%) and BPCL with 12019 (11.14%) followed by HPCL, OIL, GAIL, EIL, MRPL, CPCL, Balmer Lawrie, NRL and Biecco Lawrie with 10352, 6955, 4474, 2827, 1911, 1709, 1127, 864 and 212 employment respectively. We have seen CPSEs like ONGC, OIL and Biecco Lawrie in which employment in Exploration & Production sector was more than 40% of the total manpower employed in individual CPSEs as on 31.03.2018. The number of manpower employed in Exploration & Production sector was 28193 (87.38%), 3376 (48.54%) and 151 (71.23%) in ONGC, OIL and Biecco Lawrie respectively as on 31st March, 2018. CPSEs named IOCL, CPCL, MRPL and NRL has been observed with more than 40% of the total manpower employed in Refining sector by individual CPSEs as on 31.03.2018. There were 13821 (41.68%), 1638 (95.85%), 1815 (94.98%) and 691 (79.98%) employment in Refining sector in IOCL, CPCL, MRPL and NRL respectively as on 31st March, 2018.

CPSEs named IOCL, BPCL and HPCL has been observed with more than 40% of the total manpower employed in Marketing sector by individual CPSEs as on 31st March, 2018. The number of manpower employed in Marketing sector was 15822 (47.72%), 7109 (59.15%) and 6187 (59.77%) in IOCL, BPCL and HPCL respectively as on 31.03.2018. We have seen CPSEs like OIL, GAIL, Balmer Lawrie and EIL in which employment in other sector was more than 40% of the total manpower employed in individual CPSEs as on 31.03.2018. There were 3140 (45.15%), 2251 (50.31%), 1110 (98.49%) and 2739 (96.89%) employment in other sector in OIL, GAIL, Balmer Lawrie and EIL respectively as on 31st March, 2018.
