Background:
Satna Smart City thereby launched an Online Public Participation Survey 2021 inviting suggestions from citizens for improving city services. About 1200 people with different backgrounds and professions participated in the above survey through the online process to give suggestions across a variety of areas. The residents could post their views and priority pertaining to municipal and city services such as water supply, electricity supply, sanitation, including solid waste management, urban mobility and public transport, affordable housing, especially for the poor, robust IT connectivity and digitalization, good governance, especially e-Governance and citizen participation, sustainable environment, safety and security of citizens, particularly women, children and the elderly, health and education and others.

As per the analysis of survey data, the following five categories were on top of the priority list:
Among others, suggestions given by the people were across employment and training, cultural development, environmental protection and EWS housing.
The majority suggestions, in which 25% of the people said that improving the system of water supply and sanitation should be the first priority for the city. Then, 22% people said that public transportation system should take second priority, followed 19% of people highlighting that the parking system needs improvement. Further, 14% of the people suggested that digitization in the city, including the facility for e-governance services should be arranged. Lastly, 20% of the people highlighted that areas including employment and training, cultural development, environmental protection, and EWS housing should also be considered as key focus areas.
Post analysis of this survey, the city administration is working towards identifying and implementing programs across the areas identified above so as to improve the lives of its citizens.
