The number of rural habitations with drinking water supply affected by iron in India was 29976 as on 31.03.2016. There were 7 states with more than 1000 rural habitations having drinking water supply affected by iron viz. Assam, West Bengal, Tripura, Odisha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Punjab as on 31.03.2016.

The number of rural habitations with drinking water supply affected by iron in Assam was 8326 as on 31.03.2016. It had a share of 27.78% in the total number of rural habitations with drinking water supply affected by iron in India as on 31.03.2016.

The number of rural habitations with drinking water supply affected by iron in West Bengal was 8151 as on 31.03.2016. It had a share of 27.19% in the total number of rural habitations with drinking water supply affected by iron in India as on 31.03.2016.
