Revenue and Profit/Loss of MTNL from 2016-17 to 2018-19

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) operates in metros of Delhi and Mumbai and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) operates in rest of India. The cabinet approved the revival plan for BSNL and MTNL which inter-alia, includes in-principle approval for merger of BSNL and MTNL. The merger will benefit BSNL/MTNL through pan-India footprint, synergy in operations, reduced fixed costs and overheads, sharing of technical infrastructure and enhanced enterprise business etc.

Revenue of MTNL was Rs. 3,552 crore in 2016-17. It has tanked by -12.27% to Rs. 3,116 crore during 2017-18 over 2016-17. We have observed annual decline of -16.34% in revenue of MTNL to Rs. 2,607 crore during 2018-19 against 2017-18.

Loss of MTNL was Rs. 2,971 crore in 2016-17 and 2017-18 each. It has further widened to Rs. 3,398 crore during 2018-19 versus 2017-18, in percentage term it was increased by 14.37%.
