Registration of New Public Limited Companies Limited by Shares in India during 2011-12

The total number of new public limited companies limited by shares registered in India during 2011-12 was 3480. The total authorised capital of these 3480 newly registered public limited companies was Rs. 11600.38 crores.

The region wise total number of new public limited companies limited by shares registered during 2011-12 was: Northern Region -887 new public companies registered; Eastern Region -1466 new public companies registered; Western Region – 718 new public companies registered and Southern Region – 409 new public companies registered. Thus, the maximum (1466) number of new public limited companies limited by shares registered during 2011-12 was in the Eastern Region with a lead of 579 over the second highest Region i.e. Northern Region where 887 new public companies were registered.

The total authorised capital of the new public limited companies registered in these four regions during 2011-12 was: Northern Region – Rs. 4972.77 crores (42.87%); Eastern Region – Rs. 1026.39 crores (8.85%); Western Region – Rs. 2628.31 crores (22.66%) and Southern Region – Rs. 2972.91 crores (25.63%).
