Region-wise Primary Energy Consumption in World during 2018

Total consumption of primary energy was 13,864.9 million tonnes in world during 2018. The top 3 regions with respect to primary energy consumption during 2018 were Asia Pacific, North America and Europe.

Consumption of primary energy was 5,985.8 million tonnes (43.2%) in Asia Pacific region during 2018, up by 4.14% against 5,748 million tonnes during 2017. Primary energy consumption in North America region was 2,755.5 million tonnes in 2017. It has jumped by 2.78% to 2,832 million tonnes (20.4%) during 2018 above 2017. We have observed annual growth of 3 basis points in consumption of primary energy in Europe region to 2,050.7 million tonnes (14.8%) during 2018 from 2,050 million tonnes during 2017.

Primary energy consumption in CIS, Middle East, S. & Cent. America and Africa region was 930.5 million tonnes (6.7%), 902.3 million tonnes (6.5%), 702 million tonnes (5.1%) and 461.5 million tonnes (3.3%) respectively during 2018.
