Railway Passengers and Average Rate Per Passenger Km. from 2000-01 to 2013-14

The number of passengers originating for the Indian Railways in the year 2000-01 was 4833 million. The average rate per passenger kilometer of the Indian Railways in the year 2000-01 was 22.9 paise.

The number of passengers originating for the Indian Railways in the year 2005-06 was 5725 million. It recorded a growth of 892 million (18.46%) as compared to the year 2000-01. The average rate per passenger kilometer of the Indian Railways in the year 2005-06 was 24.5 paise. It recorded a growth of 1.6 paise (6.99%) as compared to the year 2000-01. The number of passengers originating for the Indian Railways in the year 2010-11 was 7651 million. It recorded a growth of 1926 million (33.64%) as compared to the year 2005-06. The average rate per passenger kilometer of the Indian Railways in the year 2010-11 was 26.3 paise. It recorded a growth of 1.8 paise (7.35%) as compared to the year 2005-06.

The number of passengers originating for the Indian Railways in the year 2013-14 was 8397 million. It recorded a growth of 746 million (9.75%) as compared to the year 2010-11. The average rate per passenger kilometer of the Indian Railways in the year 2013-14 was 31.5 paise. It recorded a growth of 5.2 paise (19.77%) as compared to the year 2010-11.

The number of passengers originating for the Indian Railways recorded a growth of 3564 million (73.74%) during the period 2000-01 to 2013-14. The average rate per passenger kilometer of the Indian Railways recorded a growth of 8.6 paise (37.55%) during the period 2000-01 to 2013-14.
