There was a total of 89875 persons Kidnapped/ Abducted (Sec.363 to 369 IPC) during 2016 in India, out of which 23350 (25.98%) were male victims and 66525 (74.02%) were female victims. There were 54328 (60.45% of total victims) Child Victims and 35547 (39.55% of total victims) Adult Victims Kidnapped/ Abducted during 2016 in India. Out of these 54328 Child Victims; 14486 (26.66%) were male and 39842 (73.34%) were female. Out of these 35547 Adult Victims; 8864 (24.94%) were male and 26683 (75.06%) were female.
The top 3 Purposes of Kidnapping and Abduction of Child & Adult Victims in India were: Others Purposes, Marriage and Illicit Intercourse during 2016. Out of the total 89875 Kidnapped/ Abducted Victims; 49759 (55.4%) were for Other Purposes, 33855 (37.7%) were for Marriage Purposes and 1885 (2.1%) were for Illicit Intercourse Purposes during 2016. During 2016, there were Kidnapping and Abduction of 33949 (68.23%) Child Victims and 15810 (31.77%) Adult Victims reported for Others Purposes, 16938 (50.03%) Child Victims and 16917 (49.97%) Adult Victims reported for Marriage and 1588 (84.24%) Child Victims and 297 (15.76%) Adult Victims reported for Illicit Intercourse.
