Purpose wise classification of administrative departments expenditure of Madhya Pradesh (MP) in 2012-13

Total Current expenditure incurred on various items/services of Madhya Pradesh (MP) state was Rs. 5509484 Lakhs during 2012-13. Current expenditure incurred on general public services was Rs. 982465 Lakhs in the state of MP during 2012-13. It accounted for 17.83% of total current expenditure of MP. Current expenditure incurred on defence was Rs. 20476 Lakhs in MP during 2012-13. It accounted for 0.37% of total current expenditure of MP.

Current expenditure incurred on education was Rs. 1520647 Lakhs in MP during 2012-13. It accounted for 27.6% of total current expenditure of MP and was the topmost item of current expenditure of MP. Current expenditure incurred on health was Rs. 356805 Lakhs in MP during 2012-13. It accounted for 6.48% of total current expenditure of MP.

Current expenditure incurred on social security and welfare services was Rs. 814002 Lakhs in MP during 2012-13. It accounted for 14.77% of total current expenditure of MP. Current expenditure incurred on housing and other community amenities was Rs. 740645 Lakhs in MP during 2012-13. It accounted for 13.44% of total current expenditure of MP.

Current expenditure incurred on cultural, recreational & religious services was Rs. 46216 Lakhs in MP during 2012-13. It accounted for 0.84% of total current expenditure of MP. Current expenditure incurred on economic services was Rs. 981169 Lakhs in MP during 2012-13. It accounted for 17.81% of total current expenditure of MP.

Current expenditure incurred on environment protection was Rs. 1545 Lakhs in MP during 2012-13. It accounted for 0.03% of total current expenditure of MP. Current expenditure incurred on other services was Rs. 45514 Lakhs in MP during 2012-13. It accounted for 0.83% of total current expenditure of MP.

The top three items in terms of expenditure were education, general public services and economic services, constituting 63.24% of total current expenditure of MP.
