The projected refining capacity in India is 313.6 Million Metric Tonnes per Annum (MMTPA) in 2016-17. The top 10 refineries in terms of the projected refining capacity are: Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) – DTA and SEZ – Jamnagar, Essar Oil Limited (EOL) – Jamnagar, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPC) – MR and VR, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), Managalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), Kochi, Nagarjuna Oil Corporation Limited (NOCL) – Cuddalore, Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPC) – Mumbai and Bharat Oman Refineries Limited (BORL) – Bina in 2016-17.
The projected refining capacity of IOC is 77 MMTPA in 2016-17. It is 24.55% of the projected refining capacity of India in 2016-17. The projected refining capacity of RIL-DTA and SEZ, Jamnagar is 60 MMTPA in 2016-17. It is 19.13% of the projected refining capacity of India in 2016-17. The projected refining capacity of EOL, Jamnagar is 38 MMTPA in 2016-17. It is 12.12% of the projected refining capacity of India in 2016-17. The projected refining capacity of HPC (MR and VR) is 23.2 MMTPA in 2016-17. It is 7.4% of the projected refining capacity of India in 2016-17. The projected refining capacity of CPCL is 18.3 MMTPA in 2016-17. It is 5.84% of the projected refining capacity of India in 2016-17. These top 5 refineries account for 69.04% of the total projected refining capacity of India as a whole in 2016-17.
The projected refining capacity of MRPL is 18 MMTPA in 2016-17 (5.74% of All India). The projected refining capacity of Kochi refinery is 15.5 MMTPA in 2016-17 (4.94% of All India). The projected refining capacity of NOCL, Cuddalore is 15 MMTPA in 2016-17 (4.78% of All India). The projected refining capacity of BPC (Mumbai) is 13.5 MMTPA in 2016-17 (4.3% of All India). The projected refining capacity of BORL – Bina is 9 MMTPA in 2016-17 (2.87% of All India).
The above mentioned top 10 refineries account for 91.67% of the total projected refining capacity of India as a whole in 2016-17.
