Progress of telecom development on different parameters during January 2015 – February 2015

The total number of phones (including both wire-line and wire-less phones) in India in January 2015 was 9791.19 Lakhs. It rose to 9873.4 Lakhs in February 2015. There was an absolute growth of 82.21 Lakhs and percentage growth of 0.84% in February 2015 as compared to January 2015.

The total number of Rural Phones in India in January 2015 was 4042.42 Lakhs and percentage share of Rural Phones in total telephones in India was 41.29%. It rose to 4085.47 Lakhs in February 2015 with percentage share of 41.38 in total telephones in India. There was an absolute growth of 43.05 Lakhs and percentage growth of 1.06% in February 2015 as compared to January 2015.

The total number of Urban Phones in India in January 2015 was 5748.77 Lakhs and percentage share of Urban Phones in total telephones in India was 58.71%. It rose to 5787.93 Lakhs in February 2015 with percentage share of 58.62 in total telephones in India. There was an absolute growth of 39.16 Lakhs and percentage growth of 0.68% in February 2015 as compared to January 2015.

The total number of Public Phones in India in January 2015 was 1039.79 Lakhs and percentage share of Public Phones in total telephones in India was 10.62%. It declined to 1012.82 Lakhs in February 2015 with percentage share of 10.26 in total telephones in India. There was a decline of -26.97 Lakhs and negative growth of -2.59% in February 2015 as compared to January 2015.

The total number of Private Phones in India in January 2015 was 8751.4 Lakhs and percentage share of Private Phones in total telephones in India was 89.38%. It rose to 8860.58 Lakhs in February 2015 with percentage share of 89.74 in total telephones in India. There was an absolute growth of 109.18 Lakhs and percentage growth of 1.25% in February 2015 as compared to January 2015.

The total number of Broadband in India in January 2015 was 944.9 Lakhs. It rose to 973.7 Lakhs in February 2015. There was an absolute growth of 28.8 Lakhs and percentage growth of 3.05% in February 2015 as compared to January 2015.
