Production of Polymers in 2014-15

The total production of polymers was 6533.157 thousand metric tonne in the year 2014-15. In percentage terms, contribution of different varieties of polymers was: Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) 13.9%, High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) 17.70%, Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) 2.80%, Polystyrene (PS) 4.30%, Polypropylene (PP) 39.70%, Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) 20.40%, and Expandable Polystyrene (EX-PS) 1.20%.

The total production of LLDPE was 1036.582 thousand metric tonne in the year 2013-14. It decreased to 910.257 thousand metric tonne in the year 2014-15, recording a decrease of -126.325 thousand metric tonne (-12.19%) as compared to 2013-14. The total production of HDPE was 1195.036 thousand metric tonne in the year 2013-14. It decreased to 1155.794 thousand metric tonne in the year 2014-15, recording a decrease of -39.242 thousand metric tonne (-3.28%) as compared to 2013-14.

The total production of LDPE was 190.014 thousand metric tonne in the year 2013-14. It decreased to 184.402 thousand metric tonne in the year 2014-15, recording a decrease of -5.612 thousand metric tonne (-2.95%) as compared to 2013-14. The total production of PS was 270.334 thousand metric tonne in the year 2013-14. It increased to 281.169 thousand metric tonne in the year 2014-15, recording a growth of 10.835 thousand metric tonne (4.01%) as compared to 2013-14. The total production of PP was 2648.144 thousand metric tonne in the year 2013-14. It decreased to 2590.408 thousand metric tonne in the year 2014-15, recording a decrease of -57.736 thousand metric tonne (-2.18%) as compared to 2013-14.

The total production of PVC was 1366.996 thousand metric tonne in the year 2013-14. It decreased to 1330.443 thousand metric tonne in the year 2014-15, recording a decrease of -36.553 thousand metric tonne (-2.67%) as compared to 2013-14. The total production of EX-PS was 77.353 thousand metric tonne in the year 2013-14. It increased to 80.684 thousand metric tonne in the year 2014-15, recording a growth of 3.331 thousand metric tonne (4.31%) as compared to 2013-14.
