Production of Garnet (abrasive) in India during 2015-16 to 2017-18

Production of Garnet (abrasive) was 1,58,154 tonne in India during 2017-18, up by 85.16% versus 85,413 tonne during 2016-17. In value term it was Rs. 7,87,302 thousand during 2016-17 and Rs. 16,36,667 thousand during 2017-18. States namely Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu in which production of Garnet (abrasive) has been seen during 2015-16 to 2017-18.

Production of Garnet (abrasive) was 55,583 tonne in Andhra Pradesh in 2015-16. It has decreased by -7.81% to 51,243 tonne during 2016-17 over 2015-16. We have observed annual growth of 117.38% in production of Garnet (abrasive) in Andhra Pradesh to 1,11,390 tonne during 2017-18 above 2016-17. Its value was Rs. 4,71,079 thousand, Rs. 5,65,747 thousand and Rs. 12,99,361 thousand during 2015-16 to 2017-18 respectively.

Garnet (abrasive) production in Odisha was 34,170 tonne during 2017-18, up by 54.78% against 22,076 tonne during 2016-17; whereas it was 14,767 tonne during 2015-16. In value term it was Rs. 93,564 thousand, Rs. 1,33,979 thousand and Rs. 2,42,053 thousand during 2015-16 to 2017-18 respectively.

Production of Garnet (abrasive) in Rajasthan was 958, 1,482 and 5,781 tonne from 2015-16 to 2017-18 respectively. Annual growth of 54.7% and 290.08% has been seen in production of Garnet (abrasive) in Rajasthan during 2016-17 and 2017-18 respectively over its previous year. In value term it was Rs. 1,744 thousand, Rs. 2,567 thousand and Rs. 19,084 thousand during 2015-16 to 2017-18 respectively.

During 2017-18, Garnet (abrasive) production was 6,813 tonne in Tamil Nadu. We have observed annual decline of -35.8% in production of Garnet (abrasive) in Tamil Nadu during 2017-18 from 10,612 tonne during 2016-17. Its value was Rs. 85,009 thousand and Rs. 76,169 thousand during 2016-17 & 2017-18 respectively.
