Production of Crude Steel and Export by Steel Authority of India Limited from 2016-17 to 2018-19

Crude steel production by Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) was 14.5 million tonnes in 2016-17. It has jumped by 3.45% during 2017-18 above 2016-17. In absolute term it was 0.5 million tonnes in 2017-18 over 2016-17. We have observed annual growth of 8.67% in production of crude steel by SAIL to 16.3 million tonnes during 2018-19 against 15 million tonnes during 2017-18. In absolute term the increase was 1.3 million tonnes in 2018-19 above 2017-18.

Export of steel by SAIL was 672 thousand tonnes in 2016-17. It has spiked by 4.17% during 2017-18 over 2016-17. In absolute term it was 28 thousand tonnes in 2017-18 above 2016-17. Steel export by SAIL was 760 thousand tonnes during 2018-19, up by 8.57% versus 700 thousand tonnes during 2017-18. In absolute term the increase was 60 thousand tonnes in 2018-19 over 2017-18.
