Private Final Consumption Expenditure (PFCE) at Constant Price During 2004-12

The Private Final Consumption Expenditure (PFCE) is defined as the expenditure incurred on final consumption of goods and services by the resident households and non-profit institutions serving households.

During 2004-12, Private Final Consumption Expenditure (PFCE) at constant price grew at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.2% from Rs. 1925592 crores in 2004-05 to Rs. 3351265 crores. During this period, Consumption Expenditure in Food, Beverages and Tobacco at constant price grew at a CAGR of 4.5% from Rs. 769500 crores in 2004-05 to Rs. 1046228 crores in 2011-12; Consumption Expenditure in Clothing and Footwear grew at a CAGR of 11.6% from Rs. 127829 crores in 2004-05 to Rs. 276219 crores in 2011-12; Consumption Expenditure in Gross Rent, Fuel and Power grew at a CAGR of 4.6% from Rs. 266434 crores in 2004-05 to Rs. 364559 crores in 2011-12; Consumption Expenditure in Furniture, Furnishings, Appliances and Services grew at a CAGR of 13.1% from Rs. 65174 crores in 2004-05 to Rs. 154393 crores in 2011-12; Consumption Expenditure in Medical Care and Health Services grew at a CAGR of 7.4% from Rs. 95560 crores in 2004-05 to Rs. 157102 crores in 2011-12; Consumption Expenditure in Transport and Communication grew at a CAGR of 8.9% from Rs. 371800 crores in 2004-05 to Rs. 675369 crores in 2011-12; Consumption Expenditure in Recreation, Education and Cultural Services grew at a CAGR of 8.5% from Rs. 57213 crores in 2004-05 to Rs. 101496 crores and Consumption Expenditure in Miscellaneous Goods and Services grew at a CAGR of 18.8% from Rs. 172082 crores in 2004-05 to Rs. 575899 crores in 2011-12.

In 2011-12, Food, Beverages and Tobacco had the maximum contribution (31.2%) in Private Final Consumption Expenditure (PFCE).
