Petroleum Refining Capacity in India from 2011 to 2017

Indian refinery industry has done exceedingly well in establishing itself as a major player globally. India, which is second largest refiner in Asia after China, is emerging as a refinery hub with refining capacity exceeding demand. Petroleum Refining Capacity in India reached to 233.966 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) as on 01st April 2017 from 187.386 MMTPA as on 01st April 2011, showing an increase of about 24.86%.

Petroleum Refining Capacity was 187.386 MMTPA in India as on 01.04.2011. It has increased by 13.7% to 213.066 MMTPA as on 01.04.2012 above as on 01.04.2011. We have observed growth of 6.97% in Petroleum Refining Capacity in India as on 01.04.2016 above as on 01.04.2015 from 215.066 MMTPA. Petroleum Refining Capacity in India was 233.966 MMTPA as on 01.04.2017, up by 1.7% versus 230.066 MMTPA as on 01.04.2016. Out of the total Petroleum Refining Capacity of 233.966 MMTPA in India as on 01.04.2017; 138.966 MMTPA (59.4%) was from Public Sector, 80 MMTPA (34.19%) was from Private Sector and 15 MMTPA (6.41%) was from Joint Venture (JV).
