Persons Killed in Road Accidents in India from 2000 to 2017

Total number of persons killed in India was 80888 during 2001, up by 251 basis points versus 78911 during 2000. Annual growth of 11.35% has been observed in persons killed in India to 105749 during 2006 against 94968 during 2005. Total number of persons killed in India was 134513 during 2010. It has increased by 5.93% to 142485 in 2011 over 2010. We have seen annual growth of 3.18% in persons killed in India during 2016 from 146133 during 2015. Total number of persons killed in India was 147913 during 2017, down by -1.9% against 150785 during 2016.

During the last 5 years from 2013 to 2017, maximum annual growth of 4.63% found in 2015 and maximum annual de-growth of -1.9% found in 2017 in persons killed in India.

The number of persons killed per lakh of population was 7.9 in India during 2001, up by 0.1 point versus 7.8 during 2000. Annual increase of 0.8 point has been observed in persons killed per lakh of population in India to 9.5 during 2006 against 8.7 during 2005. The number of persons killed per lakh of population was 11.4 in India during 2010. It has increased by 0.4 point to 11.8 in 2011 over 2010. We have seen annual growth of 0.2 in persons killed per lakh of population in India during 2016 from 11.7 during 2015. The number of persons killed per lakh of population was 11.5 in India during 2017, down by -0.4 point against 11.9 during 2016.

During the last 5 years from 2013 to 2017, a maximum person killed per lakh of population was 11.9 found in 2016 and a minimum persons killed per lakh of population was 11.2 found in 2013 in India.
