Performance of Public and Private Sector at Current Price during 2004-12

During 2004-12, public sector contribution in Gross Domestic Product(GDP) at current price grew at a compound annual growth rate(CAGR) of 14.1% from Rs. 680519 crores to Rs. 1713447 crores, whereas private sector contribution in Gross Domestic Product(GDP) at Current Price grew at a CAGR of 16.4% from Rs. 2290945 crores to Rs. 6640048 crores and public sector contribution in Gross Domestic Saving (GDS) at current price grew at a CAGR of 6.7% from Rs. 74499 crores to Rs. 117097 crores, whereas private sector contribution in Gross Domestic Saving (GDS) at current price grew at a CAGR of 15.3% from Rs. 976204 crores to Rs. 2648193 crores.

During this period, public sector contribution in unadjusted Gross Capital Formation at current price grew at a CAGR of 16.6% from Rs. 240580 crores to Rs. 705208 crores, whereas private sector contribution in unadjusted Gross Capital Formation at current price grew at a CAGR of 16.4% from Rs. 770598 crores to Rs. 2233249 crores and public sector contribution in Final Consumption Expenditure at current price grew at a CAGR of 16.7% from Rs. 354518 crores to Rs. 1042677 crores, whereas private sector contribution in Final Consumption Expenditure at current price grew at a CAGR of 14.9% from Rs. 1925592 crores to Rs. 5081769 crores.
