Per Day Solid Waste Generation during Dec-2016, Dec-2017 and Dec-2018

Per day total solid waste generation in India was 157478 metric tonne during Dec-2016. It has decreased by -8.3% during Dec-2017 above Dec-2016. We have seen growth of 88 basis points in per day total solid waste generation in India from 144413 metric tonne during Dec-2017 to 145687 metric tonne during Dec-2018.

The top 5 States/UTs in terms of per day solid waste generation during Dec-2018 were Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and NCT of Delhi. Per day solid waste generation was 22570 metric tonne in Maharashtra during Dec-2017 and Dec-2018 each. It accounted 15.49% of the total per day solid waste generated in India during Dec-2018. Per day solid waste generation in Uttar Pradesh was 15500 metric tonne during Dec-2018, up by 139 basis points versus 15288 metric tonne during Dec-2017. It accounted 10.64% of the total per day solid waste generated in India during Dec-2018. Per day solid waste generation was 15437 metric tonne in Tamil Nadu during Dec-2018, which accounted 10.6% of the total per day solid waste generated in India.

During Dec-2018, there was per day solid waste generation of 10721 metric tonne in Gujarat and 10500 metric tonne in NCT of Delhi. Gujarat and NCT of Delhi accounted for 7.36% and 7.21% respectively of the total per day solid waste generated in India during Dec-2018.
