Per capita electricity consumption during 2006-07 and 2011-12

India’s per capita consumption of electricity has witnessed an increasing trend. In 2006-07, per capita consumption of electricity was 672 Kwh across the country , which increased to 884 Kwh in 2011-12.

Dadra and Nagar Haveli had highest per capita consumption of electricity (13310 Kwh) in 2006-07 and 13767 Kwh in 2011-12 as compared to other states. The lowest per capita consumption of electricity was observed in Bihar (91 Kwh) in 2006-07 and 134 Kwh in 2011-12 as compared to other states.

Fifteen States viz. Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, A and N Island, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram were below the National estimate (884 Kwh) in 2011-12.
