Patients visited to Out Patient Department (OPD) of Government Health Care Facilities (AYUSH) during 2016-17

OPD means an Out Patient Department of a hospital. When a patient first enters the hospital, the patient is first taken to the Out Patient Department. This is a hospital department which is the first point of contact between patient and hospital staff. It is the section of the hospital where patients are provided medical consultations and other allied services. There were 221,275,861 patients visited to OPD of Government Health Care Facilities (AYUSH) in India during 2016-17. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to patients visited to OPD of Government Health Care Facilities (AYUSH) during 2016-17 were Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.

The number of patients visited to OPD of Government Health Care Facilities (AYUSH) in Rajasthan was 65,009,726 during 2016-17, which accounted 29.38% of the total patients visited to OPD in India. There were 35,345,296 patients visited to OPD of Government Health Care Facilities (AYUSH) in Tamil Nadu during 2016-17. It accounted 15.97% of the total patients visited to OPD of Government Health Care Facilities (AYUSH) in India during 2016-17. The number of patients visited to OPD of Government Health Care Facilities (AYUSH) in Kerala was 23,785,867 during 2016-17, which accounted 10.75% of the total patients visited to OPD in India.

There were 14,838,087 and 10,369,894 patients visited to OPD of Government Health Care Facilities (AYUSH) in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha respectively during 2016-17. Madhya Pradesh accounted for 6.71% and Odisha accounted for 4.69% of the total patients visited to OPD of Government Health Care Facilities (AYUSH) in India during 2016-17.
