Passenger Traffic of Railways from 2000-01 to 2013-14

The total passenger kilometres traversed by the Indian Railways in the year 2000-01 were 457022 million kilometres. The total earnings of the Indian Railways from passengers in the year 2000-01 were 10483.2 crores.

The total passenger kilometres traversed by the Indian Railways in the year 2005-06 were 615614 million kilometres. It recorded a growth of 158592 million kilometres (34.7%) as compared to the year 2000-01. The total earnings of the Indian Railways from passengers in the year 2005-06 were 15080.8 crores. Earnings recorded a growth of 4597.6 crores (43.86%) as compared to the year 2000-01. The total passenger kilometres traversed by the Indian Railways in the year 2010-11 were 978508 million kilometres. It recorded a growth of 362894 million kilometres (58.95%) as compared to the year 2005-06. The total earnings of the Indian Railways from passengers in the year 2010-11 were 25705.6 crores. Earnings recorded a growth of 10624.8 crores (70.45%) as compared to the year 2005-06.

The total passenger kilometres traversed by the Indian Railways in the year 2013-14 were 1158742 million kilometres. It recorded a growth of 180234 million kilometres (18.42%) as compared to the year 2010-11. The total earnings of the Indian Railways from passengers in the year 2013-14 were 36532.3 crores. Earnings recorded a growth of 10826.7 crores (42.12%) as compared to the year 2010-11.

The total passenger kilometres traversed by the Indian Railways recorded total growth of 701720 million kilometres (153.54%) during the period from 2000-01 to 2013-14. The total earnings of the Indian Railways from passengers recorded total growth of 26049.1 crores (248.48%) during the period from 2000-01 to 2013-14.
