Open Government Data (OGD) Platform India (https://data.gov.in) won the prestigious Award of Sustenance by CSI SIG eGovernance Awards 2019-20 (one of the two projects awarded in this category). In a recent event at Bhubaneswar, Shri Tusharkanti Behera, Minister Electronics & Information Technology, Sports & Youth Services, Government of Odisha has felicitated the OGD Team with the award.
In the year 2013-2014 OGD Platform had won the award in Excellence category. Started in the year 2012 under the able leadership of the then Deputy Director General, NIC, the project has been in the forefront for creation of institutional mechanism, technical framework, data contribution, data driven innovations, community engagement, open governance, international exposures and case studies.
OGD platform has been developed and managed completely using Open Source Stack. This is the Platform for sharing of Government Data in Open formats for free use by public. The Platform has a rich mechanism for citizen engagement, which could help Ministries/Departments/Organizations prioritize the release of Government Datasets. Besides, enabling citizens to express their need for specific datasets or apps, it also allows them seek clarification or information from nodal officers of participating government entities. It also acts as a knowledge-sharing platform and community participation through Visualizations, APIs, APPs, etc. Citizens are encouraged to contribute Blogs, Visualizations, Info-graphics and Apps on various datasets through a separate Community Portal (https://community.data.gov.in). OGD Platform is also available as Software as a Service (SaaS).
