Ongoing Medical Biotechnology Projects under DBT as on 31.12.2015

The total number of ongoing research and development projects in various areas, under Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, as on 31.12.2015 was 1523.

The total number of ongoing Medical Biotechnology projects in various areas under Department of Biotechnology (DBT) as on 31.12.2015 was 329. Thus, Medical Biotechnology projects accounted for the 21.60% of the total ongoing research and development projects in various areas, under Department of Biotechnology (DBT), as on 31.12.2015.

Medical Biotechnology – Human Developmental and Disease Biology HDDB had 26 ongoing projects as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 7.9% of the total ongoing research and development projects in various areas of Medical Biotechnology under DBT as on 31.12.2015.

Medical Biotechnology – Human Genetics and Genome had 39 ongoing projects as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 11.85% of the total ongoing research and development projects in various areas of Medical Biotechnology under DBT as on 31.12.2015.

Medical Biotechnology – Infectious Diseases had 98 ongoing projects as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 29.79% of the total ongoing research and development projects in various areas of Medical Biotechnology under DBT as on 31.12.2015.

Medical Biotechnology – Non-Infectious Diseases had 106 ongoing projects as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 32.22% of the total ongoing research and development projects in various areas of Medical Biotechnology under DBT as on 31.12.2015. Medical Biotechnology – Non-Infectious Diseases area accounted for almost two-thirds of the ongoing research and development projects in Medical Biotechnology under DBT.

Medical Biotechnology – Stem Cell Biology had 30 ongoing projects as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 9.12% of the total ongoing research and development projects in various areas of Medical Biotechnology under DBT as on 31.12.2015.

Medical Biotechnology – HIV/AIDS and Microbicides had 1 ongoing project as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 0.3% of the total ongoing research and development projects in various areas of Medical Biotechnology under DBT as on 31.12.2015.

Medical Biotechnology – Vaccine Research and Diagnosis had 29 ongoing projects as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 8.81% of the total ongoing research and development projects in various areas of Medical Biotechnology under DBT as on 31.12.2015.
