Observation Homes under Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) as on 31.03.2016

Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at building a protective environment for children in difficult circumstances, as well as other vulnerable children, through Government-Civil Society Partnership. The scheme also envisages a child protection data management system to formulate and implement effective intervention strategies and monitor their outcomes.

The number of observation homes, being funded under ICPS, in India was 292 as on 31.03.2016. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of the number of observation homes were: Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Nagaland as on 31.03.2016.

The number of observation homes in Maharashtra was 53 as on 31.03.2016. It accounted for 18.15% of the number of observation homes in India as on 31.03.2016.

The number of observation homes in Rajasthan was 36 as on 31.03.2016. It accounted for 12.33% of the number of observation homes in India as on 31.03.2016. The number of observation homes in Uttar Pradesh was 30 as on 31.03.2016. It accounted for 10.27% of the number of observation homes in India as on 31.03.2016.

The number of observation homes in Madhya Pradesh was 18 as on 31.03.2016. It accounted for 6.16% of the number of observation homes in India as on 31.03.2016.  The number of observation homes in Karnataka was 16 as on 31.03.2016. It accounted for 5.48% of the number of observation homes in India as on 31.03.2016.

These top 5 states accounted for 52.39% of the total number of observation homes in India as a whole as on 31.03.2016.

The number of observation homes in Kerala was 14 as on 31.03.2016 (4.79% of All India). The number of observation homes in Chhattisgarh was 13 as on 31.03.2016 (4.45% of All India). The number of observation homes in Bihar was 12 as on 31.03.2016 (4.11% of All India). The number of observation homes in Jharkhand was 10 as on 31.03.2016 (3.42% of All India). The number of observation homes in Nagaland was 10 as on 31.03.2016 (3.42% of All India).

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 72.58% of the total number of observation homes in India as a whole as on 31.03.2016.
