Number of broadband connections in India from 2005 to 2014

The number of broadband connections in India in the year ended March 2005 was 0.18 million and in the year 2006, it was 1.32 million with recorded an absolute growth of 1.14 million (633.33%). The number of broadband connections in India in the year 2007 was 2.28 million and it recorded an absolute growth of 0.96 million (72.73%) over the previous year.

The number of broadband connections in India in the year 2008 was 3.8 million and it recorded an absolute growth of 1.52 million (66.67%) over the previous year. The number of broadband connections in India in the year 2009 was 6.22 million and it recorded an absolute growth of 2.42 million (63.68%) over the previous year.

The number of broadband connections in India in the year 2010 was 8.77 million and it recorded an absolute growth of 2.55 million (41%)over the previous year. The number of broadband connections in India in the year 2011 was 11.87 million. It recorded an absolute growth of 3.1 million (35.35%)over the previous year.

The number of broadband connections in India in the year 2012 was 13.79 million. It recorded an absolute growth of 1.92 million (16.18%)over the previous year. The number of broadband connections in India in the year 2013 was 15.05 million. It recorded an absolute growth of 1.26 million (9.14%)over the previous year.

The number of broadband connections in India in the year 2014 was 14.86 million. It recorded a decline of -0.19 million (-1.26%)over the previous year.

Thus, there had been a steady growth in the period between the years 2005 to 2013. However, the rate of growth had seen continuous deceleration during the period. The maximum growth rate of 633.33% in the number of broadband connections in India was recorded in the year 2006, though on a low base of 0.18 million in 2005. The minimum, in fact, negative growth rate of -1.26% in the number of broadband connections in India was recorded in the year 2014. The overall growth rate was 8155.6% during the years 2005 to 2014.
