Rice stock in January 2014 was 16.94 million tonnes. It was 21.24 million tonnes in June 2014. Thus, Rice stock in the month of June 2014 was higher by 4.3 million tonnes as compared to the month of January 2014. The average monthly stock of Rice was 19.74 million tonnes during the first half of the calendar year 2014 i.e. between the period of January 2014 and June 2014.
The stock of Un-milled Paddy in term of Rice in January 2014 was 14.77 million tonnes. It was 4.3 million tonnes in June 2014. Thus, the stock of Un-milled Paddy in term of Rice in the month of June 2014 was lower by -10.47 million tonnes as compared to the month of January 2014. The average monthly stock of Un-milled Paddy in term of Rice was 9.66 million tonnes during the first half of the calendar year 2014 i.e. between the period of January 2014 and June 2014. The decline in the stock of Un-milled Paddy in term of Rice stock between the period of January 2014 and June 2014 was due to seasonal pattern of cropping and stocking norms.
Wheat stock in January 2014 was 24.2 million tonnes. It was 39.8 million tonnes in June 2014. Thus, Wheat stock in the month of June 2014 was higher by 15.6 million tonnes as compared to the month of January 2014. The average monthly stock of Wheat was 29.78 million tonnes during the first half of the calendar year 2014 i.e. between the period of January 2014 and June 2014. The significant increase in the stock of Wheat between the period of January 2014 and June 2014 was due to seasonal pattern of cropping and stocking norms. The maximum stock of Wheat i.e. 41.59 million tonnes was recorded during the month of May 2014, which is the peak month for wheat harvesting in the northern India.
