Institutional Deliveries in India from 2014-15 to 2018-19

India has witnessed an increasing trend in percentage of institutional deliveries from 2014-15 to 2018-19. The percentage of institutional deliveries was 93.41% in India during 2018-19, up by 1.16% against 92.25% during 2017-18. We have seen growth of 6.54% in percentage of institutional deliveries from 86.87% during 2014-15 to 93.41% during 2018-19.

The top 3 States/UTs with respect to having maximum percentage of institutional deliveries during 2018-19 were Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The percentage of institutional deliveries in Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry was 100%, 99.99% and 99.98% respectively during 2018-19. Meghalaya has been observed as bottom state with 57.79% of institutional deliveries during 2018-19 in comparison to 56.18% during 2017-18.

Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Assam have been seen with maximum annual growth in percentage of institutional deliveries during 2018-19 versus 2017-18. The annual growth in percentage of institutional deliveries was 3.11%, 2.35% and 2.33% in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Assam respectively during 2018-19 above 2017-18.

Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Goa have been found with maximum annual decline in percentage of institutional deliveries during 2018-19 against 2017-18. The annual de-growth in percentage of institutional deliveries was -0.48%, -0.23% and -0.13% in Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Goa respectively during 2018-19 over 2017-18.
