Injuries in India’s Mining Industry during 2001-2011

In India, rate of fatal injuries in mines declined by 43.2% from 0.37 in 2001 to 0.21 in 2011 and rate of serious injuries in mines declined by 31% from 1.55 in 2001 to 1.07 in 2011. During 2001-11, highest rate of fatal injuries (0.38) was observed in 2006 and lowest rate of fatal injuries (0.21) was observed in 2011. Highest rate of serious injuries (2.24) was observed in 2005 and lowest rate of serious injuries (1.04) was observed in 2010. In 2011, rate of fatal injuries decreased by 43.2% and rate of serious injuries increased by 2.88% as compared to 2010.
