As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the estimated number of incidence and mortality of cancer cases in the country is increasing.
We have observed annual spike of 4.55% in estimated number of incidence of cancer cases during 2017 from 14,51,417 cases during 2016. The estimated number of incidence of cancer cases was 15,86,571 during 2018, up by 4.56% against 15,17,426 during 2017. In absolute term the incidence of cancer cases has increased by 66,009 during 2017 and 69,145 during 2018.
The estimated number of mortality of cancer cases was 7,32,921 in 2016. It has increased by 4.56% during 2017 above 2016. Annual growth of 4.57% has been seen in estimated number of mortality of cancer cases from 7,66,348 during 2017 to 8,01,374 during 2018. In absolute term the mortality of cancer cases has increased by 33,427 and 35,026 during 2017 and 2018 respectively.
The mortality rate of 50.5% has been found in cancer cases during these three years from 2016 to 2018.
