Import of Olefin Petrochemicals during 2010-11 to 2017-18

Petrochemical Products namely Butadiene, Ethylene and Propylene were imported under Olefin group during 2010-11 to 2017-18. Import of Butadiene was 3077 metric tonne during 2010-11. It has increased by 63.63% to 5035 metric tonne during 2011-12 over 2010-11. Its value was Rs. 1761 lakh in 2010-11 and Rs. 4539 lakh in 2011-12. We have seen annual growth of 35.82% in Import of Butadiene from 2105 metric tonne during 2016-17 to 2859 metric tonne during 2017-18. In value term it was Rs. 1657 lakh and Rs. 3104 lakh during 2016-17 and 2017-18 respectively. Maximum annual growth of 200.9% has been found in 2014-15 in Import of Butadiene during the period under consideration.

Import of Ethylene was 114550 metric tonne during 2010-11. It has decreased by -87.2% to 14667 metric tonne during 2011-12 over 2010-11. In value term it was Rs. 51549 lakh in 2010-11 and Rs. 8223 lakh in 2011-12. Annual decline of -51.66% has been observed in Import of Ethylene to 39119 metric tonne during 2017-18 versus 80917 metric tonne during 2016-17. Its value was Rs. 57116 lakh and Rs. 32795 lakh during 2016-17 and 2017-18 respectively. Maximum annual growth rate of 284.4% has been seen in 2016-17 in Import of Ethylene during the period under consideration.

Import of Propylene was 164 metric tonne during 2010-11. It has decreased by -6.71% to 153 metric tonne during 2011-12 over 2010-11. Its value was Rs. 357 lakh and Rs. 609 lakh during 2010-11 and 2011-12 respectively. We have found annual growth of 1944.78% in Import of Propylene to 8813 metric tonne during 2017-18 from 431 metric tonne during 2016-17. In value term it was Rs. 1878 lakh in 2016-17 and Rs. 7384 lakh in 2017-18. Maximum annual growth of 1944.8% has been observed in 2017-18 in Import of Propylene during the period under consideration.
