Import & Export of Petroleum Products – 2022-23

India is the third-largest consumer of crude oil and petroleum products in the world. Information about petroleum product import and export are available on the Open Government Data Platform; the link is below.

About the Data:
Dataset available on the Open Government Data (OGD) Platform, display the volume of petroleum products imported and exported on a monthly basis during financial year 2022-23. The information is available for various products like LPG, MS (Motor Spirit), Naphtha, ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel), SKO (Superior Kerosene Oil) etc., along with the monthly import of crude oil. Import and Export Quantity available in ‘000 Metric Tonnes.

Month-wise Analysis:
Month-wise import of crude oil is available on the portal. It is observed that April represents the month of maximum import volume (21626 thousand metric tonnes), while September represents the month of minimum import volume (16772 thousand metric tonnes).

By examining the data, we may conclude that, for petroleum products maximum export volume (9.83%) in March 2023 and the maximum import volume (9.52%) in the month of April 2022.

It is observed that quarter-2 of the financial year 2022-23 represents the period with a maximum export volume of 16625 thousand metric tonnes while the maximum import volume is observed in quarter-4 having a value of 11979 thousand metric tonnes.
